Peter Geary

co-owner & host

Peter Geary’s hospitality experience spans almost 30 years; the first seven based in London, England where he managed parties for celebrities and royalty. After eight years running some of Toronto’s finer restaurants, Peter opened Pangaea with his partner, chef Martin Kouprie, in October of ’96. Pangaea consistently receives enthusiastic praise from the industrie’s toughest critics, who are as delighted by the service as the food. Joanne Kates wrote in The Globe and Mail, “Geary has obviously set himself the task of making every guest feel like a VIP.”

The service at Pangaea is warm, competent, and thoughtful but never pretentious; a reflection of Peter’s personal style. “I like to think of Pangaea as an extension of my home.” He says. “Welcoming guests should be like welcoming them into your home. By the time they are seated, they should feel confident that they are in good hands.” Highly respected as an industry leader, Peter has been a guest lecturer at Humber Collage on the subject of “Service”.

Along with the restaurant, Peter’s other passions are movies and music. Apocalypse Now, A Clockwork Orange and Raging Bull are favourite flicks; and Frank Zappa, Tom Waits and John Coltrane head an eclectic music repertoire. He loves the comedy of Spike Milligan, Peter Cook and Viv Stanshall, and proudly supports Liverpool and England football (aka soccer) teams. We won’t hold the latter against him.
